Role: Regional Procurement Category Manager - Transport and Logistics
Location: Madrid - hybrid working, with limited travel
Salary:€ompetitive + up to 20% bonus + package

Are you an ambitious English and Spanish-speaking procurement professional with experience managing key logistics areas such as road freight, warehousing, and fleet?

If so, this is an exciting new role in a highly transformational environment, offering the opportunity to work closely with the regional Senior Leadership Team and global procurement to upskill and centralise a key category within a large global business.

Joining a FTSE 100 manufacturing organisation with a significant market share, they saw continued growth throughout the pandemic.

With a highly experienced CPO and a motivated Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with them to implement the new regional procurement strategy across one of their key expenditure categories. This role is posed well to pave the way for further leadership opportunities across the organisation.

Role:

You will have complete ownership of the Transport and Logistics category across Spain, Portugal, and France. This is a key business critical category for them, with c. €70mil expenditure per year and over 250 suppliers. This portfolio encompasses a large element of road transport (own fleet, external companies, and independent owner operators), warehousing, fuel, fleet, and handling equipment and is ultimately responsible for over 30 sites across the region.

You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enacting the category strategy across the region. Working in conjunction with country and regional stakeholders, you will proactively develop procurement capabilities across numerous geographies. Furthermore, you will be supported in leading the strategy to centralise this highly dispersed and decentralised portfolio.

You will work in close conjunction with the Senior Leadership Team to define new regional standards and processes, effectively managing upwards and utilising their well-established central procurement function. It is critical that you have strong stakeholder management skills for this role.

Reporting to and mentored by the Head of Procurement for Southern Europe, this role is ideally based in Madrid, Spain. However, exceptional candidates can potentially be based further afield within Spain. They have a mature flexible working model c. 2-3 days hybrid working and the remainder in the office. Occasional regional travel to sites will be required.

Experience:

  • You will demonstrate a strong knowledge of the logistics and particularly the road transport markets within the Iberia region. You will have the experience to own, develop and implement procurement and SRM strategies across the region.
  • Ideally, you will demonstrate procurement experience gained in a complex, multi-faceted manufacturing organisation.
  • You will demonstrate a consultative approach to engaging, influencing, and supporting stakeholders of varying seniority and from different cultures.
  • You will be data savvy, with an analytical mindset and a keen eye for detail.
  • Relevant Degree/Masters + CIPS or equivalent.
  • Previous background in operational logistics or from within a 3PL/transportation company is highly beneficial, but not essential.
